Description/Blazon
A silver color metal ad enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height, consisting of a silver sword between two silver laurel branches surmounting an arced black scroll inscribed "FIGHT EVIL" at top and an arched black scroll inscribed "PURGE EVIL" at bottom all in silver letters; overall a green shield bearing a silver tower detailed green.

Symbolism
Black and white/silver symbolize twenty-four hour vigilance and military preparedness; green denotes life, hope and faith in the future. The tower recalls Charlemagne's castle in Aachen and denotes defense. The laurel represents honor and high achievement. The shield and sword depict the unity of Europe's Armed Forces and their readiness to act if required.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved on 17 Aug 1992 for the U.S. Army Element, Allied Forces Central. It was redesignated on 28 March 2000 for Regional Headquarters Allied Forces North Europe.
